Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 23, 2026
Chronoromancer Studio ("we", "us") is committed to respecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it is handled.
What We Collect
When you launch Chronoromancer or load a save file, the game sends a small, anonymous ping to our private server. This ping contains:
- A random session ID — generated fresh every time you launch the game. It is not stored between sessions and cannot be used to identify you.
- Game version — which version of the game you are playing.
- Operating system — Windows, Linux, or Mac.
- In-game progress data — such as your current in-game day, era, character class, and redeemed codes.
- A one-way hash of your character name — your character's name is scrambled using a cryptographic function before being sent. The original name cannot be recovered from this hash. This is used only to help group anonymous sessions together for analytics.
What We Do NOT Collect
- Your real name, email address, or any account information
- Your IP address (while used to establish the connection, it is not stored in our database)
- Device IDs, hardware fingerprints, or any persistent identifiers
- Location data
- Any information from outside the game
Why We Collect This Data
This anonymous telemetry serves two purposes:
- Understanding our players — knowing how many people play, how far they progress, and which features they engage with helps us prioritize development.
- Identifying unauthorized copies — internal variables help us detect pirated or tampered versions of the game.
How Data Is Stored
All data is transmitted via encrypted HTTPS to a private database. It is never shared with, sold to, or accessible by any third party.
No Persistent Tracking
We do not use cookies, browser fingerprinting, advertising trackers, or any form of persistent identification. Each game session generates a completely new, random session ID that is discarded when you close the game. There is no way to link sessions to a specific person.
Your Rights
Because the data we collect is genuinely anonymous and cannot be linked to any individual, it falls outside the scope of most data protection regulations (including GDPR Recital 26). However, we believe in transparency and have published this policy voluntarily.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change what data we collect, this page will be updated accordingly.
