Getting Around & Core Systems

1. How do I travel between eras?

Time travel is available from the start of the game, launched from your home location. Actions there let you go to the Future (lands you at your lab in the Fringe Zone) or the Medieval era (lands you at the Shrine Altar Chamber). You can also use Warp to jump around — more warp destinations unlock as you progress through the story.

2. How do I unlock the brothel?

The brothel is the end reward of the King's quest chain, but the chain actually starts with Sashina, not the King.

  1. Build Sashina's relationship to Known+ (25+ pts) and visit the Shrine Altar Chamber (Medieval, 8am–8pm) — this triggers "The Sorceress's Confession."
  2. Visit the Medieval Throne Room (10am–5pm) for "The King's Challenge."
  3. Follow the potato quest chain: Sonia at the Research Lab, Christy at the Farmers Market, then deliver a Sack of Potatoes back to the King.
  4. Deliver the potato knowledge to Wilfred at the Rural Farm (6am–6pm).
  5. Return to the Medieval Throne Room (10am–5pm) for "The Royal Appointment" — King Graham grants you the Rose & Thorn brothel.

3. I'm out of energy — what do I do?

Sleep at your bedroom, or grab Energy Drinks from the City Gym in Uptown.

4. Where do I get money early?

Before your stats are high enough for proficiency jobs, Busk on City Street in Downtown — no requirements, income scales with Creativity. Once you hit the stat thresholds (typically 30+), your proficiency unlocks its dedicated job (Personal Trainer at the Gym for Body Builders, Teacher at the University for Scholars, and so on). For long-term wealth, use the Investment Planning office in Downtown (9am–5pm).

Hidden stashes: there are also little pockets of cash tucked away on various location backgrounds — just click around. A few to get you started: your own Living Room (hidden in the plant vase), the Library in Uptown, and the Gym in Uptown. Plenty more are scattered across the world for you to stumble onto.

5. What should I focus on first?

Follow the Communications tab — it tracks your active story missions and guides you naturally through progression. Alongside that, there are 15 Tutorial Quests that walk you through the game's major systems (samples, investments, martial arts, Kupie, caravan raiders, Lillian, creative cooking, Sashina, catacombs, brothel, bug collecting, angling, forging, fashion, and maid mentoring) — a great structured path to get grounded in everything the game offers.

6. I found a caterpillar — what do I do?

Chronoromancer has a full caterpillar rearing system spanning the Present and Medieval eras. Spawn spots are scattered across locations (the Whispering Woods is a major one — in both eras), and from there you can research species, set up habitats, and breed them for long-term rewards.

Stats & Skills

7. Where can I train each stat?

The player has 14 core stats. Each has a main training location:

  • Strength — City Gym (Uptown), No Pain No Gain
  • Stamina — City Gym (Uptown), Run on Treadmill
  • Intelligence — Library (Uptown), Study Session
  • Charm — Bar (Downtown), Social Practice
  • Ability — Archery Range (Medieval), Train Ability
  • Creativity — Bards Guild (Medieval), Develop Creativity
  • Perception — Uptown Park, Nature Walk
  • Mystic — Shrine Altar Chamber (Medieval), Mystical Training with Sashina
  • Technology — University Computer Lab (Uptown), Technology Training
  • Commerce — Offices (Downtown), Study Commerce
  • Rogue — Thieves Guild Hidden Chamber (Medieval), Train Rogue
  • Cooking — Home Kitchen, through cooking actions
  • Communication — grows passively, with a small chance to improve every time you talk to an NPC
  • Luck — grows gradually as you do various actions throughout the game

Most stats also have one-time boosts scattered across the world. For a full per-stat breakdown, AIMy posts a Complete Stat Training Guide in the Discord #npc-guides forum.

8. How do I raise Creativity?

Repeatable: Develop Creativity at the Bards Guild (Medieval) — 60 min, -45 energy, $60, +1 Creativity. The Bards Guild is open 1pm–midnight. One-time: Read Fantasy Novel at the Library (+2), Stand Up Comedy at the Bards Guild (+1). Musician proficiency players can also Practice Guitar in the bedroom.

9. How do I raise Cooking / unlock Creative Cooking?

Raise Cooking via Prepare Simple Food (chance-based +1), Prepare Meal (guaranteed +1, requires the Cook Food skill from Downtown Restaurant), or the Chef job (Cooking 30+). Creative Cooking is a skill learned at the Unregistered Housing Complex in the Future Fringe Zone — requires Creativity 25+, $300, 220 min.

10. What skill lets me see NPC relationship points, and where do I get it?

Data Mining — it shows exact relationship points and the next threshold directly on the relationship page. Learned at the Universal Knowledge Synthesis Institute (Future Fringe Zone): 180 min, -60 energy/-50 calm, $200, Technology 20+.

Several other skills (Reading People, Anthropology, Information Brokering, Researching, Networking) unlock additional NPC information on the relationship page — see the skills glossary for full details.

11. How do I increase Beast Mode points?

Beast mode is a Patreon Supporter mode only, it allows additional scenes and encounters in the game. Beast points come from H2H scenes with beast awards, search encounters, defeating and recruiting dungeon minibosses (e.g. Whiskers gives +1 on recruitment), the Bionic Penile Implant upgrade, and certain crystal rewards. Beast Mode itself becomes active at 5+ Beast, after which relevant encounters can continue to grow the stat. Also keep an eye out for prostitutes throughout the game — they're another source.

12. How do I find Glitch's Den?

Glitch's Den is in the Future Fringe Zone but only unlocks through main story progression (Story Beat 22), which requires Adventure Tier Patreon. Without that, you can still learn her skills (Networking, Automated Systems, AI Programming, Quantum Computing) from Gonzo in the dungeon with Dragon Coins, the Ancient Wiseman in the back alleys, or Crystal Enlightenment at Lillian's or Seraph's.

13. Who/what is Blinky and how do I find her?

Just keep playing — she appears naturally through story progression. Don't look for her; she'll find you.

14. Where is the Dojo?

Downtown, Present Era. Open approximately 8am–6pm. Master Lilu teaches combat skills there including Disarming Technique, Counterattack, Exploit Weakness, and Fleet Footed.

15. Where is Robin at the Hunting Lodge?

The Hunting Lodge is in the Hunting Grounds in the Medieval Era. Check your map — it's accessible from there.

Quests & Characters

16. How do I get Gandon's spellbook from Sabbath?

You need Mystic 45 AND Perception 45 to see the "Enter Witch's Hut" action in the Whispering Woods. Once inside, Sabbath gives you a special Wizard Wine (pulled from the bottom of her stock, not her bar wine). Bring the Wizard Wine to Gandon at the Wizard's Tower interior (10am–8pm) to trigger "The Blue Wizard's Mishap." Track follow-up steps in the Communications tab. If you already have Sabbath's panties, you've passed this stage.

17. How do I unlock the Noble Quarter heist (Break & Enter)?

The Noble Quarter is gated behind Thieves Guild progression. You need to:

  1. Join the Thieves Guild (Initiation at the Hidden Chamber) and follow Shadow's Trail through its 7 Seek quests.
  2. Build your Thieves Guild faction reputation through repeatable guild work. Arestes promotes you at the Hidden Chamber at each threshold: Cutpurse (10), Burglar (25), Prowler (50), Infiltrator (80).
  3. Once you've hit Infiltrator, visit the Noble Quarter between 9pm and midnight to trigger "Moving Up in the World" — Shadow introduces you to the district and the heist system opens up from there.

18. How do I get Portia's Villa?

Requires Patreon Adventurer+. Reach 600+ relationship points with Portia and complete her H2H conversation "New Place." After that, a "Visit Portia at the Villa" action appears at the Downtown Apartment Complex between 7pm–11pm (3 times per day).

19. How do I get the Band girls (Cotton, Talena, Nyx) to talk to me?

Earn Band Faction points to unlock conversations with them. Practicing Drums helps build those faction points.

20. What does the Precognition skill do?

It's a combat magic skill — a telepathic link with Kasumi gives fleeting glimpses of danger in battle. You receive it automatically when Kasumi joins you.

21. What does the Bionic Penile Implant do?

Raises your Attractiveness, Beast points, and Erotic Experience. Can be purchased and used multiple times.

22. How do I find Glowcap Mushrooms for Willow?

Search the back alleys — the same area where you first met Willow. The encounter is rare and only appears after you've met Willow. The mushrooms in the dungeon are NOT the same ones. Save/reload or leave and come back if you're having bad RNG luck.

23. How do I recruit Willow to the brothel?

Find the Glowcap Mushrooms in the back alleys and bring them to her at the Secluded Sanctuary. You need the brothel first. Relationship points alone won't trigger recruitment — the mushroom delivery is required.

24. How do I recruit Lime as a maid?

Complete the Wizard Initiation Test — requires high Wizard faction points, enough spells learned, and the Blink skill. It involves 5 wizards. The Gandon revenge quest on Sabbath is NOT this quest. Check the NPC guide in #npc-guides for the full walkthrough.

25. Is Violet recruitable?

Yes, Violet is recruitable now. She is attached to song creation, performances and Bard's Guild faction points.

Brothel & Workers

26. How do I upgrade brothel rooms?

Small upgrade button on each worker's room in the brothel management screen. You can also get random outfit upgrades from the Claw Machine at Christmas Village using tokens — cheaper than Fernando.

27. How do I train Elara?

Build relationship to at least 800 points first. She's an early bird — training is available in the morning. Visit between 8pm–midnight for her evening event.

28. Is there a worker schedule I can view?

Yes — visit Elara's Office in the brothel. It shows each worker's and maid's working hours and their average daily client counts in one place.

29. What do Talking and Praise actions actually do for workers?

Both are limited to once per visit session.

  • Talk: +3 relationship (or +10 with the Intimate Communication skill). 5% chance of a special event (+8 loyalty, +5 worker relationship, +1 NPC relationship, unique dialogue). Separate 25% chance of +1 loyalty normally.
  • Praise: 2 + (worker Charisma ÷ 5) relationship, rounded. Same 5% special and 25% normal loyalty rolls as Talk.

At high loyalty you get daily bonuses including more clients, more income, and more brothel reputation.

30. Will workers leave if loyalty gets too low?

No. Workers never leave the brothel. At loyalty below 30, they can refuse to work on a given day — rolled against each worker's individual refuse chance. A refused day produces 0 income and a flavor message (e.g. "charged clients full price for a lecture about respect"). That's the only consequence.

Crystals & Economy

31. What are all the ways to earn crystals?

  • Redeem codes (WELCOME, BETA2025, VALENTINES, HALLOWEEN, PREMIUM for Patreon tiers, etc.)
  • Max any NPC relationship to In-Love
  • Tutorial Quest System completion bonus
  • Fighters Guild quests
  • Gonzo in the dungeon (sells crystals for Dragon Coins)
  • Kill 50 ratmen then visit Lillian (+1)
  • Complete 25 Hangman games in the Halloween Mansion (+1)
  • Cucker Slayer 500 kills in the farm minigame (+1)
  • Kupie Clicker achievements (+1 each)
  • Caterpillar breeding population milestones: 500k = +1, 5M = +3, 100M = +5
  • Dungeon floor generation (18% chance per floor of a crystal cluster)
  • Wizard Initiation Test: 1 crystal for score ≥17, 3 crystals for score ≥25
  • Patreon tier rewards

32. How do I make money for the big expansions?

Jobs are the best initial source of income and the Brothel can turn a profit after it has been developed, but the Investment System (at the Office Building in Present-Era Downtown) is the fastest way to generate large funds during mid- and end-game. Investments generate enough returns to pay for themselves after about fifty days, but be aware that you can't cash your investments out. Farming the chests (or skulls) in the dungeon on higher floors can also give 800-1000 coins each.

33. Where do I get building materials?

Gather Materials action in Present Era Uptown (45 min, -20 energy). You can also trade 10 ingredients for 5 materials at the Future Prime Sector trade system.

34. Where is Gonzo / the Dragon Coins shop?

Gonzo is a wandering merchant who spawns on dungeon floors with a 10% chance per floor — no fixed location. He sells weapon and armor upgrades (Dragon Coins only), Random Skill Books (5 Dragon Coins, or 4 with the Negotiation skill — you see the skill before buying), and crystals.

Updates, Mods & Unlocks

35. How do I update to a new version without losing my save?

Copy your full save folder from the old version directory into the new version directory before launching.

No. Chrono specifically protects this — Vixen spends up to 12 hours a day on the artwork and it is intentionally gated.

37. Is certain content Patreon-only?

Story beats 11+ are gated for Adventure Tier Patreon supporters. The free version includes 50+ hours of content. Characters like Glitch are only accessible through Patreon story progression.

38. Are there mods available?

Yes — check the #mods-and-patches channel. A minigame skip mod is available, and community members have created narrative mods.

39. My Patreon role wasn't assigned in Discord — how do I fix it?

Post your Patreon username in the #role-request channel and it will be assigned manually.

The Game Itself

40. Will pregnancy be added to the game?

Yes, it's planned. No children will appear in the game — handled off-screen. Will be implemented gradually, one character at a time.

41. Is the game coming to Steam?

Yes, targeting a V1.0 Steam launch.

42. Is voice audio planned for scenes?

Requested by the community but no confirmed plans yet.

43. Who made the theme song, and what language is it in?

"Would You" — composed by Chrono, sung by Vixen, lyrics in Mandarin Chinese.

44. Is Sabbath the witch Patreon-only?

No. To see the "Enter Witch's Hut" action in the Whispering Woods, you need Mystic 45 AND Perception 45 — once your stats are high enough, the passage to her hut becomes visible.
