Overview

Diane is the Town Hall clerk in Present Downtown, handling civic commissions and a practical Responsibility lesson. Her current personal content includes an introduction, a shared Katie scene, four construction scenes and a Boardwalk Sunset Date. Her role also appears in Story Beat 55; this guide lists its access and costs without revealing the outcome.

Quick Stats and Schedule

Attribute Value
Age / era / alignment 43 / Present / Neutral
Town Hall Office Every day, 9 AM–5 PM
Boardwalk Every day, 5–8 PM, after her boardwalk-restoration scene completes
Favorite stats Intelligence 50, Communication 55, Commerce 50
Special relationship skill Accounting
Office Talk From Stranger, 20 minutes, 1 base affection, five per day
Boardwalk Talk From Stranger, 20 minutes, 1 base affection, three per day
Implemented gifts None
Office Talk and Boardwalk Talk use separate daily allowances, allowing up to eight positive Talk uses across both locations after the boardwalk opens. Her evening Boardwalk schedule is every day, rather than an odd/even-day schedule.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough

  1. Visit the Town Hall Office for the automatic, one-time Welcome to Town Hall introduction. Choose Professional for the best +3 choice points, in addition to 1 base affection.
  2. Talk to Diane during office hours, up to five times per day. Civic commissions have no affection prerequisite beyond Stranger; choose the project whose location you want to open and bring its payment.
  3. After Katie Explains What She Likes, use Diane's Responsibility lesson at the Office. It costs 60 minutes, 30 energy and 30 calm, grants the Responsibility skill, and completes once. The best response is Caring +3, in addition to 5 base affection.
  4. After Katie Explains Jobs and Gifts and Diane's introduction, visit the Office, 9 AM–5 PM, for Family Matters, a one-time shared scene. Favor Diane for her largest choice award.
  5. Use Restore the Boardwalk, then complete its construction scene. This opens the Boardwalk travel action from Uptown Beach, Diane's 5–8 PM portrait there and her separate evening Talk allowance.
  6. At Close Friend, use Boardwalk Sunset Date from her Boardwalk menu 5–8 PM, with the paid version and Higher Power/supporter access. The date completes once.
Her current character definition has no personal H2H chain, apartment encounter or worker recruitment. Responsibility, shared scenes, civic commissions and the Boardwalk date are the activities to complete.

Talk and Responsibility

Action Requirements / location Cost Reward Availability
Office Talk Stranger; Town Hall Office, 9 AM–5 PM 20 minutes 1 base affection Five per day
Boardwalk Talk Stranger; Boardwalk, 5–8 PM, after restoration 20 minutes 1 base affection Three per day; separate from Office Talk
Responsibility Katie Explains What She Likes completed; Town Hall Office 60 minutes, 30 energy, 30 calm Responsibility skill; 5 base affection; Caring +3 / Flirty +2 / Funny +1 Once
The Responsibility lesson has no configured money payment, stat threshold, higher affection stage or paid-version requirement. Completing its scene grants the skill and closes the lesson. Accounting remains Diane's relationship-bonus skill; it is distinct from Responsibility.
Listed relationship rewards are base values. Favorite stats add bonuses when their thresholds are met, and the special relationship skill doubles the adjusted base before the shared random roll. Equipment, buffs and alignment can further change the final reward. Raising affection does not replace quest flags or earlier heart-to-hearts.

Four Civic Commissions

Start each commission from Diane's Town Hall Office menu, 9 AM–5 PM. All four require only Stranger, the listed payment and the corresponding project not already built. They have separate completion flags, and each project completes once.
Commission Cost Completion reward Location opened / access
Commission Statue 180 minutes, $1,000 10 base Diane affection Patron Statue, from Uptown Park
Commission Pavilion 180 minutes, $1,000,000 10 base Diane affection Butterfly Pavilion, from University Hall
Commission Pool 180 minutes, $2,000,000 10 base Diane affection University Pool, from University Hall; Dawn's training location
Restore the Boardwalk 180 minutes, $5,000,000 10 base Diane affection Boardwalk, from Uptown Beach; Diane's evening location
These actions do not configure an additional energy or calm deduction. Their 10-point affection awards come from the construction scenes, rather than an extra commission-button award. Complete the scene to set the building flag and enable its travel button. Each newly opened travel action takes zero minutes.
The boardwalk construction also supplies the restoration-scene requirement used by Diane's date and other characters' boardwalk outings. The University Pool here is the Present university project; it is distinct from Gastoff's pool project in another era.

Introduction and Shared Katie Scene

Scene Trigger Base affection Choice awards
Welcome to Town Hall Automatic at the Town Hall Office; no extra hour or progress gate in the plot definition Diane 1 Professional Diane +3; Flirty +2; Funny +1
Family Matters Automatic at the Office, 9 AM–5 PM; Katie Explains Jobs and Gifts and Welcome to Town Hall completed Diane 2 and Katie 2 Favor Diane: Diane +5 / Katie +1; Neutral: +2 each; Favor Katie: Diane +1 / Katie +5
Both scenes complete once. The introduction's automatic plot trigger has no extra portrait-hour check, while Diane's ordinary menu remains 9 AM–5 PM. Family Matters explicitly checks office hours. Neither scene needs a minimum Diane affection stage.

Boardwalk Sunset Date

Requirement Value
Relationship Close Friend
Construction Diane's boardwalk-restoration scene completed
Version/access Paid version and Higher Power/supporter access
Start Diane at the separate Boardwalk location, every day, 5–8 PM
Cost 60 minutes, $50, 30 energy
Completion reward 10 base affection
Best first choice Sweet +5
Best second choice Sweet or Flirty +5
Repeatability Once
The two best answers contribute 10 base choice points, separately from the 10-base completion award. Bring the payment and energy, and start from Diane's Boardwalk portrait. Merely being at Uptown Beach does not provide her date button.

Main-Story Appearance

Story Beat 55 — The Counter-Offer triggers automatically at the Town Hall Office, 9 AM–5 PM, after Story Beat 54, with $10,000,000 wealth. It has no minimum Diane-affection requirement. During ordinary main-story progression, completion spends $10,000,000 and advances 45 minutes.
Its fixed relationship reward is 20 base affection with Diane and 20 with Christy. The Good response gives the largest combined choice reward, +5 each; Neutral gives +3 each, Evil gives Diane +1 / Christy +4, and Unaligned gives +2 each. Good, Neutral and Evil choices also carry their matching alignment tags. The scene's result is left for you to discover in the story.

If Progress Stalls

  • Her ordinary Office menu is available 9 AM–5 PM. After restoration, find her at the Boardwalk, 5–8 PM.
  • The Responsibility lesson waits for Katie Explains What She Likes. Family Matters waits for Katie Explains Jobs and Gifts and Diane's introduction; these are different tutorial milestones.
  • A completed commission disappears once its building is flagged. Use the new destination's travel button, from the Park, University Hall or Beach as listed above.
  • For Boardwalk Sunset Date, reach Close Friend and meet both the paid-version and Higher Power/supporter checks. Restoring the boardwalk alone does not meet those access requirements.
  • Story Beat 55 needs Story Beat 54 and $10,000,000 wealth. More affection cannot replace those requirements.
  • There is no current gift, H2H, apartment or recruitment button to unlock for Diane. Her implemented personal content is covered above.
