Mandarin — Complete Walkthrough

Overview

Mandarin is a strong-willed maid in the Medieval era. Own the Rose & Thorn, find her dungeon encounter and complete its battle to recruit her as maid #2. After recruitment she appears in Maids Quarters, 10 AM–2 PM, rather than as an ordinary dungeon portrait.
Her current route includes daily Talk, a one-time Strength lesson, repeatable Maid Service, eight shared automatic encounters, cleaning progression and her exclusive equipment. This guide gives their requirements and rewards while leaving the maidens' personal stories and later discoveries to the game.

Favorite stats improve the shared relationship calculation; learned Intimidating Presence doubles its multiplier. Mandarin does not teach that skill through the listed actions. Strength in Service raises the player's Strength stat, rather than teaching Intimidating Presence.
Affection below is base affection unless marked direct or final. Maid cleaning experience is separate from ordinary affection, worker experience and NPC intimacy experience.
  1. Own the Rose & Thorn, then reach ordinary dungeon floor 21. Approach the hidden wall at x=2, y=10 while Mandarin is not recruited. Stepping into it starts her encounter.
  2. Complete the Greater Demon battle. The opening replies converge, and both the fight and diplomacy choices lead to the same required battle. The later replies converge on recruitment as maid #2.
  3. Visit Maids Quarters, 10 AM–2 PM for Mandarin's Arrival, with Elara home from vacation. Use Talk to build friendship.
  4. At Known, 25 affection, with Communication 45, claim Strength in Service once for Strength +1 and 10 direct affection.
  5. Recruit the other maidens and use the shared-scene requirements below. These encounters are additional affection sources; they do not add a prerequisite chain to Maid Service.
  6. At Intimate, 1,600 ordinary affection, request Maid Service from her 10 AM–2 PM portrait.
  7. Develop her separate cleaning level, then equip Mandarin's Iron Will after reaching Elara Kupie level 10 and claiming Elara Maxed.

Finding and Recruiting Mandarin

Guaranteed Floor 21 Route

Mandarin's guaranteed encounter is behind a hidden wall on floor 21, at the game's coordinates x=2, y=10. Counting the dungeon grid from the upper-left corner starting at one, this is the third column and eleventh row.
The wall permits entry only while the player owns the Rose & Thorn and maid #2 has not been acquired. Walk into that tile to launch the encounter. It is not a Fighters Guild bounty, and it has no guild-contract, Mandarin-affection, item, maid-room-level or stat threshold.
Mandarin is also in the ordinary random dungeon scenario pool while you own the brothel and have not recruited her. That random eligibility has no additional floor check of its own. The floor-21 wall is the reliable route; you do not need to wait for random selection. Use the ordinary dungeon, whose encounter system provides these scenarios, rather than Infinity Dungeon's battle-only exploration.

Greater Demon Battle

The initial responses converge. “Offer her work…” appears only with brothel ownership, but selecting that reply is not an extra recruitment requirement. At the confrontation, both Fight the Greater Demon and attempt diplomacy lead to the same battle; diplomacy does not bypass combat.
The encounter marks the fight as a boss battle, preventing ordinary flee/sleep options. Its enemy is configured with 115 base HP, explicit HP values of 115 + dungeon floor × 6, 30 magic resistance and a 1.8 damage multiplier. On the guaranteed floor-21 route, the script's explicit HP value is 241, before the shared battle applies its scaling and difficulty rules.
The Greater Demon uses Claw, Flame Breath, Unholy Strike, Dark Pulse and Firestorm. It is strong against Fire, weak to Light, and absorbs Fire at 75%. Firestorm is telegraphed. Bring appropriate equipment and recovery resources; use the elemental weakness instead of treating Fire as an advantage.
After victory, the three replies all lead to acquire maid #2. No particular intimate answer, affection stage or gift is required, and the scenario has no separately configured ordinary Mandarin-affection reward. Her arrival scene at the brothel gives its own reward afterward.

Maid Recruitment and Room Level

Acquiring Mandarin sets her recruitment flag and updates Maids Quarters level to the number of recruited maids, capped at six. Mandarin's maid number 2 does not mean the room must already be level 2, nor that recruiting her always sets it to 2. She joins the maid roster, with cleaning progression, rather than the numbered brothel-worker training roster.

Daily Talk

Her ordinary portrait is at Maids Quarters, 10 AM–2 PM every game day, after recruitment. Talk costs 15 minutes, gives 1 actual base affection, and lists 30 positive uses per day. The action's displayed 2 relationship points are not the actual handler reward.
Thirty ordinary talks would require 450 minutes, longer than her four-hour portrait window. Without time reductions, the full 10 AM–2 PM window fits sixteen 15-minute starting attempts, with other actions and encounters taking time too. The daily counter is an allowance, rather than a promise that all thirty can fit into that schedule.
Even though Mandarin continues using normal banter after the allowance, extra attempts submit negative base affection. The shared relationship system can add escalating over-limit penalties capped at five points per attempt, with Charm checks. Her calm response does not make excessive Talk a positive affection source.
There is no ordinary Chocolate, Flowers or other gift action for Mandarin. Generic worker gifts, portrait gifts belonging to other NPCs and her cleaning equipment do not substitute for a Mandarin gift menu.

Strength in Service

At Known, 25 affection, with Communication 45, choose Strength in Service from her Maids Quarters portrait, 10 AM–2 PM. It takes 30 minutes, completes once, and gives Strength +1 and 10 direct Mandarin affection. There is no configured cash, Energy or Calm cost.
The direct affection is not multiplied by her favorite-stat calculation. This reward does not teach Intimidating Presence and does not require Maid Service, another maid's friendship or a shared encounter.

Maid Service

At Intimate, 1,600 ordinary affection, choose Maid Service during her 10 AM–2 PM portrait window. It takes 30 minutes, has no extra Energy, Calm, cash, paid-version or supporter requirement, and uses a repeatable one-round Heart-to-Heart with three randomly chosen presentation variants.
The sole response, “I appreciate your direct approach, Mandarin.”, gives 15 base conversation points. The action's separate 15-point field is a placeholder and is not another 15-point completion bonus. The shared multiplier applies to the conversation total; a learned Romantic skill adds 25 final affection afterward, regardless of relationship stage.
The action advertises three uses per day, but the current Mandarin/shared H2H handlers do not record a separate service-use counter. Each invocation still processes its 30-minute cost and portrait starting window.
No separately configured NPC intimacy experience, player Erotic experience, looping video, apartment visit or pregnancy continuation is awarded by this service. The eight shared scenes below are not additional Maid Service prerequisites.

Eight Shared Automatic Encounters

Each encounter completes once when you visit the named room with every listed requirement met. Recruited means the relevant maid-acquisition flag is set. Their own starting windows apply independently of Mandarin's ordinary 10 AM–2 PM portrait.

Mandarin's Arrival gives 3 base Mandarin affection and 3 Elara, with no choice bonus. Elara must be home from vacation; no extra Mandarin affection gate is configured.
Strength and Spirit gives 5 base Mandarin and 5 Lime, with no choice bonus. Both must be recruited and at Acquaintance. It does not require The Shift Change or the other maidens' first meeting.

At the first meeting, choose “Mandarin, your strength and confidence are incredibly attractive.” for 15 Mandarin / 3 Lychee / 3 Rain. The scene has no separate affection-stage gate once all three are recruited.
In The Shift Change, the caring reply “You're both amazing at what you do…” gives 8 total Mandarin and 8 Violet. Funny gives 6 Mandarin / 9 Violet, and Flirty gives 7 each. This scene can trigger 8–10 AM before Mandarin's ordinary portrait appears.
Choosing a maid in The Master's Chamber assigns that scene's five-point bonus and does not create a separately configured permanent exclusivity lock. The other maids keep their fixed completion reward. This encounter can trigger at any hour after all three reach Friend.
Nothing Missing needs Onyx Acquaintance, recruited Mandarin, Rain and Onyx, and the preceding Onyx encounter. It adds no Mandarin-affection threshold. Its caring reply gives the best Mandarin total, 7. Five Lights, One Shadow likewise adds no Mandarin stage gate; its friendship gate belongs to Onyx Close Friend, while all six maids must be recruited.

Reaching the Later Onyx Encounters

The two later shared scenes follow this separate Onyx sequence, all in Maids Quarters. The table gives unlocks without revealing the scenes' discoveries.

Mandarin is not an extra participant gate on the preceding Arrival, Dramatic Pause or Dark Asks Nothing scenes. Complete the matching Onyx steps and return within the specified window; daytime portrait hours do not unlock these night/early-morning encounters.

Maid Cleaning Progression

Mandarin contributes to daily cleaning after recruitment. Her maid level increases through cleaning experience, independently of ordinary affection. Daily positive cleaning restoration is split among recruited maids, then modified by equipped experience bonuses. Talk, the Strength lesson, shared-scene affection and Maid Service do not directly award maid cleaning experience.

Her contribution enters the combined daily calculation with equipment, apprentices and a random cleaning modifier. Base cleaning is not a guaranteed fixed daily experience reward or ordinary affection gain. Maid cleaning level is also separate from the room's recruited-maid count.

Mandarin's Iron Will

This epic equipment is exclusive to maid #2. Reach Elara level 10 in Kupie's Love Training, then claim Elara Maxed in its achievement panel. The achievement checks her minigame level, rather than whether a tenth date was viewed. Mandarin has no separate Kupie NPC date entry.
Equip Mandarin's Iron Will through maid management to gain:
  • Mandarin's base cleaning +10%, rounded down in the calculation, then +15 flat cleaning.
  • Eight less daily mess for the brothel, applied after percentage mess reduction and before cleaning, with remaining mess floored at zero.
With no other equipment, the item changes her level-1 personal cleaning contribution from 10 to 26, or her MAX contribution from 40 to 59, before the combined daily modifiers. Its personal cleaning bonuses do not add 15 to every maid. The eight-point mess reduction applies to the building's combined mess calculation.
The item does not directly grant maid experience or ordinary affection, and it does not unlock Maid Service. Reaching Elara level 10 without claiming the achievement does not put the reward in your maid equipment inventory.

Troubleshooting

  • Hidden wall remains blocked: check ordinary floor 21, x=2/y=10, brothel ownership and whether Mandarin is already acquired.
  • Diplomacy still launches combat: both confrontation choices lead to the same required Greater Demon battle.
  • Portrait missing in the dungeon: after recruitment her regular portrait is Maids Quarters, 10 AM–2 PM.
  • Talk gives less than its action field: the actual handler gives 1 base, not the metadata's 2.
  • Strength in Service missing: check Known, Communication 45 and whether the once-only reward was already claimed.
  • Maid Service missing: reach Intimate / 1,600, and use the 10 AM–2 PM portrait. Intimidating Presence and shared encounters are not extra requirements.
  • Shared scene missing despite friendship: check every listed recruited maid, previous plot completion, the scene's own hours and any Elara-vacation requirement.
  • Night Onyx scene missing at noon: visit its night/early-morning window after completing the Onyx sequence; Mandarin's daytime schedule does not apply to it.
  • Cleaning level unchanged after conversations: her cleaning experience comes from daily cleaning, separately from affection.
  • Iron Will missing at Elara level 10: claim Elara Maxed, then equip the reward on Mandarin through maid management.
Her current personal content has no separate date, apartment visit, regular worker-training route, resort vacation or pregnancy continuation. This guide covers recruitment, personal actions, all eight registered shared encounters and her maid-management progression.
