Overview
Cressida Vale is the Director of Civic Continuity at the Bureaucracy Automation Center, the senior human signature inside VOID's automated government. Her route, The Human Signature, asks one question: when a machine has already chosen the outcome, what does a human signature actually authorize? Her ending is not resignation. It is authorship.
Unlike most Future Era routes, her story begins with no story-beat gate: her first plot triggers on your first daytime visit to the Bureaucracy Automation Center. The full VOID reveal, her alliance, and her finale wait for Story Beat 034.

Route Arc
- A citizen is trapped in a form loop; Cressida cuts through it and notices the only person reading consequences instead of instructions.
- She demonstrates a lawful override and argues that a human signature creates accountability.
- She constructs a continuity exception for a resident the system deleted.
- The 47-step process sends Cressida herself to an AI therapist for issuing too many exceptions.
- A polite denial notice hides an execution timestamp that predates her review.
- She finds authenticated approvals bearing her biometric signature on cases she never saw.
- Ghost connects her evidence to VOID: her office is a human-accountability layer, and her mercies trained the system.
- She builds a hidden appeal interval between automated decision and physical enforcement — her first deliberate sabotage.
- She rejects a simple escape into TD and negotiates an alliance on her own terms.
- At the TD Operations Center she countersigns her first Resistance corridor and returns to her desk as deliberate cover.

Route Tips
- Her route can begin very early: just visit the Bureaucracy Automation Center during the day.
- Plots 6, 7, and 9 only trigger in the evening (18:00–22:00).
- Plots 7 and 9 wait for Story Beat 034; finish the main story to that point before expecting the VOID reveal.
- After
Authority to Refuse, she splits her week: odd days at the Center, even days at TD Operations. Both offer Talk and Information Brokering. - The finale triggers at the TD Operations Center on an even day, not at the Bureaucracy Center.
- Negotiation doubles normal relationship gains through her special-skill preference.
Writing Voice
Cressida is precise, economical, dry, and fully self-possessed. She uses administrative language as wit, threat, seduction, and eventually self-indictment. Flirtation is unmistakably adult: she notices desire, names it, and protects consent. Vulnerability arrives as exact admissions, never melodrama.
